OUR WORK

Working in service of a just future

OUR MISSION

Why we exist

Our mission is to advance racial justice by resourcing power within communities. Guided by the principles in our Change We Seek framework, we fund and work alongside leaders, organisations, and their communities, to build long-term, systemic change.

CHANGE WE SEEK

Our key principles

We developed our Change We Seek framework to bring to life our emergent approach. The framework enabled us to transform our internal culture and processes, so that we can move money responsibly though the lens of learning.

  • Racial justice is the pathway to community, power, and abundance that benefits everyone

  • Power is acting collectively and harnessing it for the purpose of a just future

  • Wealth is more than money – it is dignity, knowledge, community and joy

  • Holding complexity and multiple truths is key to how we learn and make informed choices

  • Committing to acting collectively before our personal preferences is how we hold ourselves accountable

LEARNING

Our learning approach

We work iteratively through reflective learning cycles as part of our programmatic approach. This enables us to hold complexity and be more emergent in our practice, course-correcting as we understand more. Our grant-making process was initially shaped through a set of learning questions, and has since evolved, as our understanding of the ecosystem has deepened.

How we fund people and projects

We are committed to building a collaborative, relational ecosystem, away from competitive process. As such, our grants are made by invitation only and in partnership to ensure we are shifting power.

Our grant decision-making is also held collectively by our staff, and not trustees as we believe that our whole community has a role to play in the stewardship of wealth.

How we steward our wealth

We are currently exploring how to maximise our impact and plan for our future iteration. For us, this means moving towards reparative capital and beyond grants to devolve power further to communities.

Our endowment is primarily ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) screened, with added pots in impact investment. Our investment strategy includes spending portions of our capital as well as our investment returns.

Our people & culture

Tudor’s people are stewards of Tudor’s wealth, history, present, and future. Together, we are committed to embodying the Change We Seek and to contributing to the sector beyond Tudor.

In developing our culture, we have wanted to find ways to bring in different voices and skills into the organisation. Agreeing on a set of behaviours all of us should display helped us enable this shift and learn and work in emergence.

The Change We Seek

This short film introduces our Change We Seek framework, launched in 2025, and its role in shaping how we focus our resources.

We extend our gratitude to our 2025 grant partners for generously sharing their photos and videos for this film.
