Back to Updates

Over the past three years, as part of our transformational journey, we have been exploring what it takes to use all our capital in service of our mission, not just the funding we distribute through our grants. This has led us to reflect on our endowment and how it could be invested in ways that both generate the returns needed to support our grant-making and also align with our commitment to racial justice and community power building.

These conversations have taken place alongside our work to shape Tudor’s long-term strategic direction. Together, trustees and staff have been considering what it takes to achieve lasting, systemic change over a generation, which we define as a 20-year period.

Historically, Tudor’s investment strategy, as designed by previous Boards, was based on a gradual spend-down of our assets. Over the last decade, we have used both investment income and portions of our capital to fund our work. Since we began our transformation in 2024, we have been reflecting on whether a slow spend out is still the right strategic choice. Given the level of need for independent funding and the importance of grant-making in civil society we have come to a position that we want to remain operational for a longer-term trajectory.

Given this, we want to develop a new investment strategy that will enable Tudor to continue its mission for at least the next 20 years. This is an exciting and important moment for the organisation, and it is why we are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as our Associate Director, Investments.

We are looking for someone who brings both strong investment expertise and a deep understanding of communities. You will have experience of mission-aligned investing and a commitment to building economic approaches that increase community ownership, decision-making and control over assets. You will help shape an investment strategy that supports long-term financial sustainability while advancing our mission to build power and create more just futures.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. Applications close Thursday 24 September 2026.
